Last night we tried something we've never done before…..we drank a bottle of Menage a Trois with our friends Anne and Jay. Pretty crazy, I know, but what the heck!
We were at Mama Susanna's in River Park, where I have to say, they have a nice local wine list….including many by the glass. We opted to try a red from Folie a deux winery in Oakville. They specialize in blends, and this, of course, was a blend of three grapes: Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet. It started out a bit acidic for my taste, but when it opened up in our glasses (3 wine, one short little water glass for Jay) it was jammy on the palate and had a pleasant vanilla essence. Tannins were light, but there…..nice wine to have with food and friends….and at about $12/bottle ($28 at the restaurant) you can't go wrong.
Thanks for the shout out to River Park! My brother in law’s favorite baseball cap is from Folie a deux – does that qualify me as a conneiseur?
Go River Park….love the neighborhood and all the people in it! Found the Folie a deux at Safeway today, $8.99
