Old Vine Zinfandel…It’s What’s for Dinner!

Tonight is night 2 on a bottle of 2008, Lodi OVZ from Oakridge Winery.  I think I picked this up for about $17 at Compton's Market in Sacramento.  Aromas of blackberry, bacon and a hint of coco.  I love the saturated ruby color and the touch of toasted oak, vanilla and hickory smoke on the palate.  There is a slight spicy/peppery note, but it's shy, as though its hiding behind its older brother.  For a Lodi Zin, it is not too overpowered by heat from the alcohol, and it has subtle tannins, a pretty well-balanced wine.

I've enjoyed it now for two nights; pretty darn tasty with mini corn muffins….wonder if there will be any left tomorrow?? xoxoSusanOakridge ovz
